1. Who we are

hvacexigency.com ("we," "us," "our") provides online HVAC video and phone consultations. You can contact us at mikerepairs.com@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect automatically

When you visit our website:

• IP address and approximate location (city, state, ZIP — derived from IP, not GPS)
• Browser type, version, operating system, device type (phone/tablet/desktop)
• Screen resolution, language preference, timezone
• Pages visited, time spent, scroll depth, click patterns
• Referring website (where you came from: Google, Facebook, Craigslist, etc.)
• Search terms from certain search engines (Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo — Google hides its terms)
• UTM parameters from advertising links
• A unique visitor ID stored in a cookie for 1 year, to recognize return visits

Why we collect it:

• To improve our website and understand how customers find us
• To detect fraud, bots, and abuse
• To measure advertising performance

3. Information we collect with your explicit permission

GPS / precise location

When you click a Free or Premium button, we ask: "Check if HVAC help is available in your area." If you tap "Yes" AND allow your browser's location permission, we capture your GPS coordinates to reverse-lookup your street address, ZIP+4, and county. This is used to verify we serve your area and to pre-fill your booking form. If you deny or skip this prompt, we do not collect GPS location.

Camera and microphone

Used only during active video consultations. We do not record video calls unless explicitly disclosed before the call starts. Video streaming is handled by the Jitsi Meet platform.

4. Information you provide in forms

• For consultations: Name, email, phone number, service address, and description of your HVAC issue
• For payments: Credit card details — processed entirely by Stripe. We never see, store, or transmit your full card number.

5. Third-party services we use

• Stripe — for payment processing (Stripe's privacy policy)
• Jitsi Meet — for video calls (Jitsi's privacy policy)
• ip-api.com — to convert your IP address into an approximate city
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim — to convert GPS coordinates into a street address (only when you grant GPS permission)
• Gmail/SMTP — for email notifications

6. Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of first-party cookies:

• hvace_vid — unique visitor ID, expires in 1 year
• hvace_optout — set only if you opt out (stops tracking)
• Session cookies for video/phone consultations — expire when you close your browser

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other third-party advertising trackers unless explicitly disclosed elsewhere.

7. Data retention

• Visitor logs: up to 90 days
• GPS consent logs: up to 90 days
• Customer records (name/email/phone/issue): up to 7 years (tax and business records)
• Payment records: kept by Stripe per their policy

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Delete your data → submit a deletion request
• Opt out of tracking → click here
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

California residents (CCPA):

You have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete your data, and the right to opt out of the "sale" of personal information (we do not sell data).

EU/UK residents (GDPR):

We process your data based on legitimate interest (website analytics, fraud prevention) and consent (GPS location, cookies). You have the right to access, correct, erase, port, and object to processing.

9. Children's privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we will delete it.

10. Data security

We use HTTPS encryption for all traffic. Payment data never touches our servers (Stripe handles it). However, no internet transmission is 100% secure — use our service at your own risk.

11. International transfers

Our servers are in the United States. If you are outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be notified via a banner on the homepage for at least 30 days.
